I just read a book called "Big Friendship" by Aminatou Sow and Ann Friedman. I love the meaning of this title because it's deeper than "BFF" or "bestie." The book talks a lot about this idea of Big Friendship I loved especially it because so little is written about female friendship. So when I find a good book on the topic, I hold tight. This painting could easily be titled "Sisters" or "Daughters" but I titled it "Inseparable" because it is about a Big Friendship in my life, like, a #reallybigfriendship. I got the title from the movie "Bridges of Madison County" and the friendship between Francesca and Lucy. I literally painted this beginning to end almost non-stop, with tears flowing down my face, because of my love for this friend. There are many layers including Hebrew text from the Bible, portions of poetry by Karen Dabaghian, scraps of viola music from Barber's Violin Concerto (which I was preparing for at the time with the San Juan Symphony, and which was canceled due to COVID), and my own handwritten words about this friendship. Painted in layers of text, papers, and acrylics.
